Peaches in Crystal

Today was really great. Marta got home and came right over so we could play with our new paints and brushes. We had a wonderful visit, she shared all her wonderful sketches, we had lunch and then after painting we swam. It was wonderful. When Randy got home he played cabana boy and made us martini's and served us at pool side, wow, what a day! This is my painting with my new colors, very clean and transparent colors, I like!

Wow, fantastic! I love the colors you've used in this! Yes, we *must* know what paint you're working with! I'm sure the martinis and handsome cabana boy help to motivate, too.

Good to hear Marta was unharmed by the bears, too. As far as we can tell ;)

thanks for the great comments. I did buy some new brushes and paints and book that I love called "Daring Color". She mentioned some of her favorite colors and so I had to try them. She uses lots of transparent colors and mixes warms and cools of same colors. I used WN Scarlet Lake, Brown madder, Cobalt blue and new gamboge. Sennelier Quinacridone Red orange and Holbein Naples yellow, Gamboge Nova, Mineral violet. She lets the paints mix on the paper, the colors stay much cleaner and clearer. I am still playing. One color she uses alot is Holbein Verditer Blue,it was backordered so I am still waiting. I would like to know what everyone thinks of the compostition. I have gotten alot of comments, it seems its a love or hate reaction so far.

Thanks for the info (as we all dash to check out the book and buy more paint). I was struck by the composition. All the white space really highlights the light-ness, all the highlights on the glass, really makes the (strong) lighting a player in the painting. I like it!

This is excellent! Love the crystal, I've tried painting it before and it's not easy to do. What brand of paints are you using? Marva

This is lovely. The shadows are such a great color. I'm envious of your new paints. Your colors are so clear and beautiful—I want that!
