Pastel Show 2011
Our Pastel society, the Pastel Society of Southern California, held their annual members show. It was a juried show and Sally Strands was the juror. I was thrilled to have both of my pieces accepted into the show! On March 26th we had the opening reception which had a wonderful turn out. Members and guest were able to vote on their favorite paintings and I heard that there were over 400 votes. Lots of great food, conversation and then prizes. I was honored to have won in the still life catagory for my painting of Patti's kitchen counter called " Hotel Herdell". Here are some of the pictures from that night. I am looking forward to painting some of the people examining the artwork!

The painting looks beautiful hanging on the gallery wall. Is that you, Desiree, standing by the painting? The art in the show must have been even more wonderful to view IRL.
It is not the best picture but yes its me and there is one of Jennifer looking at a painting
Sounds like a wonderful time and your painting looks beautiful hanging there with you. So do you.
Huge congratulations to you Desiree. I'm not surprised you picked up an award, you are such a wonderfully talented person, along with being a beautiful and kind one too.....
Beautiful piece and congratulations !
Of course it won, it is fantastic!! I just love that painting, you have some mad skills!!
Just caught up with your photos here. It looks like a great show to be involved in - such a lot of interesting people and really good work. And your still life deserves the award - its really bright and full of "life".
I remember that pastel painting in progress - not at all surprised it won an award. Looks like a lovely show and a great time!
