Late night painting

My husband has been working at night, I take the time to paint uninterupted by the daily activities that steal my painting time. Although I was pretty blurry eyed I painted until 2:30 am and got this painting done. I like the way the bear turned out but the cat has too many hard edges, I will probably redo, I love this photo.

I am working on a looser style and trying to control the blooms that happen with water. I am trying to mix more of the color on the paper and let the watercolor do what it does. It is a challenge for sure and an ongoing journey!

Today we are going to go down to Temecula for the opening day of the Hot Air Balloon and Wine show. The hot air balloonist come from all over for this event and the local wineries are there for tasting and promotion. I am taking my paints, will post later.

I can see what you mean about the cat, but I love the picture any way, and if you hadn't said it, I wouldn't have thought it. I could just see the "meeting" of these two!

A lovely, gentle painting! And I don't find hard ecges on your cat, I think it is al very well balanced and the bear is so pretty!

This is very, very sweet. It's always nice to have reference photos that inspire you, touch your heart, because it's so enjoyable to keep working at to improve technique, huh? Gee, I should stop talkin' and start doin'! >:)

Have a great day - it sounds wonderful. Hope that you'll be able to get in some painting - the balloons should be fun (and the wine!).

Hugs!

I love the colors you chose for this -- very quiet! It's a great piece, and you should be able to easily lose a little edge with a scrubber ... :-) It's fine as it is, though!
