May 4th, Everything is in bloom

Our coral tree is starting to bloom, they are amazing blooms, spikes of color. The tree sets these flowers prior to leafing out, so this barren, wonderful twisted shaped tree has these giant clumps of flowers on the tips of eash branch. It is striking. This variety of the coral tree is as beautiful without foliage in the winter as they are in bloom, or in full foliage as they are in summer. this variety is also less invasive and destructive as some of the others which can grow up to 60' in all directions and lift all cement within its reach.

How very lovely! I found you on Listening to the River's blog. Your blog title was totally intriguing--I didn't know what to expect. What a lovely surprise to find an incredible artist with a wonderful point of view!

I'll be back to vist!

I had never heard of nor seen these trees/plants before that I can recall. Interesting.

I was starting to add more to that comment, when my son hijacked me for an hour over something he needed me for!

I am sure your drawing and story about this plant/tree interests me more than if I were to just see the actual plant (I think I would take it for granted). Have you ever thought of doing an informative book with illustrations on unusual plants??? I can picture you pursuing that from this drawing and some others you've done!

Oh my - isn't that beautiful! Your drawing is really gorgeous too.
Desirée, I'm supposed to go to San Francisco to see my daughter on May 13, and I'm not sure when I'll be back (we're flying standby, so it's open)I'll send you my home phone before I go, and hopefully we'll be able to hook up near the end of your stay, but at this point I can't promise. Ronelle is in Corrèze without internet right now, but she should be back in time to meet up with you.
