New fabric pieces

I have been playing again! Paint, collage, fabric. I really like the way these small pieces are turning out. I made a fabric/paper and then painted and distressed. I have started a few more but I know they will have to wait until I get back from vacation.

  1. These are such beautiful pieces. I have lots of experience with cotton, silk, procion dyes and all sorts of surface design, but no experience with paper + fabric although I watch the demos on the quilting Arts TV program. Are you following any one specific method?

Have fun on your vacation. I will look forward to your posts upon your return!

  7. Thanks everyone. This technique is from an article in Cloth Paper Scissors, and I haven't read it but just heard people discussing parts here and there. I am trying to still figure it out. This is what I have figured out so far, fabric/paper is just muslin or cotton fabric with pieces of papers applied with watered down glue as a binding agent. Stitching and embellishments can easily be added along with stamping etc. On these samples I added pieces of cut up magazines, tissue paper, and some textured papers I bought at an art store. The layers of texture are wonderful. Then I applied some paints, and even went over them with an antiquing sepia stamp to age. This next one I post is one of my favorites, if any of you try this I would love you to share witm me too.
