Our Girls Pastel Weekend

I just got back from my girls pastel weekend in San Clemente. We all meet to take Dianna Pontings class at the San Clemente Art Supply, an awesome art store. The owners are the nicest people and our group is now on its 5th year, I think its been five. This year we all went to the Pageant of the Masters and the Feastival of Arts and the Sawdust Feastival. What a fun day, looking at art, walking the streets of Laguna and eating at the sidewalk resturant.  Needless to say we were all exhausted at the end of the 5 days of fun! Here is the class piece that I finished and some of the pictures of our days together, enjoy! If youre interested in Dianna's class contact San Clemente Art Supply and get on the list now!

I am curious..why did you take the hand out of the finished painting?

Hi, I haven't heard from you in awhile! I took it out because it freaked me out, reminded me of a scary movie I saw as a kid and it looked like a murder mystery book cover to me so I just pulled out the hand. I think it needed something else but since it is just a class project I wanted to finish and start my own painting as soon as I could. It was one of the more challenging projects so far. She had leather, cloth with embroidery, ribbons, glass and metal, and then the hand so it was a great learning project. I would of liked some more color, the second class is doing a study in reds! It looked interesting too!

What a fun trip you had and your pastels are beautifully done. I'm curious about the photograph of the five of you. Are you related to the woman at the end of the group? You look enough alike to be twins, at least in this photograph.

HI Ann,LOL you know we are not related but we had more than one person ask us if we were sisters. We met in class several years ago, she flys in from Minnesota to take the class.

What a fun week of friends and art. Wish I were there. Your painting is so skilled. I enlarged it and enjoyed every corner of it.
